I have a nice big IC tent but the pegs are steel & quite meaty - I would not want anyone to fall on them as they are, niether do I really want to hammer them all the way in; I can obviously get to work before the spring with some foam, tape & bright colours, but I'm wondering if anyone can offer any tips from experience before I start getting creative ? Any guidelines available from LT other than making a good job of it ?

By definition, you have a sharp, pointy bit which goes into the ground and you whack the other end with a hammer which is likely to muller any padding you put on. The large marquees have even bigger pegs than you're likely to have, all LT have ever done with those is to wrap them in foam & duct tape & spray them orange. Most IC tents use either wooden pegs sticking 2-4 inches out of the ground or occassionally some metal pegs put most of the way in. On the other hand, making an LRP weapon which looked like a tent peg would be fairly simply, but it wouldn't be any good at actually holding a tent up.

Metal hemispheres? Upturned steel buckets with a notch cut for the guy rope, tacked down with embedable pins??

I had thought of creating a kind of padded sock thing to go ontop of exposed pegs after I'ed hammered them in, the bucket idea is much better ! I even think my local swedish furniture store has some cheap plant pot stylee "buckets" that will be just the job & will pack down nice & small. 10 Bucket points for mr DM; call in for a brew should you see a tent with lots of buckets at the corners.....

Posts: 4 (08/07/09 18:56:07) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Get small buckets (Cheep plastic ones) and peg them to the ground over the pegs. the pegs to hold them to the ground should be small enough to be able to push them all the way in and not be a problem to lift at th end of the event. Hope this helps
